About
Who is Taru?
I’m an irreverent, sometimes irascible, sometimes inspiring, 67 year old woman who has lived a life many say should be the subject of a book. I’m working on that.
I’m also Co-Founder and CEO of Alive! Whole Life Fitness Studio in Redwood City, CA. Alive! is truly a labor of love for both myself and my husband, James Bell. He is our Master SafeStrength® Trainer and has given over 11,000 safe and highly effective strength training sessions over the past five years! He works with the body to create functional strength, and he’s extremely good at it. I may be biased, but, based on his results with our clients, I think he’s a gifted healer.
My role at Alive! is to work with the mind, helping clients who are wary of aging replace limiting beliefs with empowering beliefs. I am also the Networker who has single-handedly brought in most of the clients we work with. I love networking!
Why this blog?
I’m on a mission to debunk the myths and memes of aging, among other things. I have amassed a veritable feast of facts about aging, about networking (the old fashioned, “in person” kind), about entrepreneurship after 50 (instead of retirement), and a plethora of other topics.
I won’t be talking about retirement, golfing, knitting, grey ghettos, giving up and crawling into a hole — none of that. This blog is not for elders who are content to roll up the sidewalks, themselves along with it. No siree! There are plenty of web sites and blogs for that.
This blog is for people who want to be both realistic about the challenges aging brings and who want to create a lifestyle of purpose and passion as they age. My readers want to make a difference and live life to the fullest until their last breath. And yes, we will all have a last breath. All of us; everyone of you who is reading this. So my challenge to you is what are you going to do between this breath, the one you are having right now, and the last one?

You make some excellent points! I would like to see women, and the whole rest of the world, change the way the way they think about women as they age. Why shouldn’t we continue to feel vital and be robust. I have been fighting back some of the aging issues with my menologues blog – but I admire your courage in gaining such control over something as devestating as rheumatoid arthritis – that is truly inspiring.
Robin – I can’t deny that aging can be challenging – just look at my life! But, as you say, we need the people to change the way they think about aging women. I hope to help the women in my coaching program change the way they think about aging and, in doing so, start a ripple effect among their friends and family. Thanks for commenting.
Taru, you are something! I love it, seeing you so out there. You are an inspiration!
You know, i just found that I love blogging and sharing helpful information, especially as it relates to limiting beliefs about aging. It’s become my passion!
I really appreciate your comment, Devika. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen you, pehaps someday we’ll meet up again in the flesh. I’d like that.
